President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a state visit to France, probably in summer 2018 at the invitation of President of France Emmanuel Macron. “Yes, we can confirm that preparations for the visit are being actively conducted” said Deputy Minister of Uzbek Foreign Affairs Abfujabbor Abduvokhitov.
In his congratulatory message to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the occasion of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day in September 2017, President of France Emmanuel Macron said he would welcome the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Paris for the first working meeting: “I will be happy to host you in Paris for the first working meeting. This meeting will strengthen the political dialogue between our countries, while they face common problems, such as terrorism and global climate change. Also, this meeting will give impetus to the development of our economic ties”.
France and Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations on 1 March 1992. The First President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov paid state and official visits to France in 1993 and 1996, French President Francois Mitterrand visited Uzbekistan with state visit to in1994.
