79 years of marriage –The longest couple in Uzbekistan

Nosira and Mamasodik Akbarov were married in an Uzbek town Chartak, Namangan 79 years ago. They grew up in the same place and got married when they were 17. During World War II, when her husband left to fight, Nosira stayed with small children. That period of survival was the most difficult time in their life, she remembers.
After War, Mamasodik came back and employed as a tractorist in the local kolkhoz, a cooperative agricultural enterprise, together with his brothers. Wife devoted her life to their children.
The couple has 9 children, 35 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Unfortunately, Nosira has problems with her eyes, one of her eyes does not see. “Although a problem with my eye health, I am fully satisfied with my life” says Nosira, “Yes, God gave me lot of difficulties in my life, but He has given more rewards for my patience”.
Now the couple lives with their youngest son, Ilgar, who is 54. His elder daughter, who is married and has 2 children, never forgets to visit her grandparents at weekends. “I cannot stand without them, they give somehow strange energy and mood, their pray keeps me strong and positive” she says.
The couple, who are both 96, rely on each other and say that they can’t imagine their life without each other. Nosira and Mamasodik gave up their life for their family and home. They opened doors of opportunity for their children.
